New Creative Account!

This one’s a long time coming. 

TL/DR: I’m launching a creative account (@KoryJamesCreative) and would love for you to follow it. I’ll be posting all sorts of music, writing, and comedy-related content at a higher frequency in hopes to elevate my artistic capabilities and, potentially, build a following. 

Longer version: 

I’m currently within one of my life's most exciting eras. I joined a volleyball group containing hundreds of amazing people where some kind of party or athletic event (or both) happens every single weekend. I moved to a city where I run into someone I know each time I step out the front door. I started an awesome job in the AI meets Life Sciences space that is flexible hours-wise yet keeps things constantly interesting. 

On paper, things have never been better. 

Yet it feels like something’s missing. 

Since college I have made impressive strides on the creative front. I took an intensive year-long screenwriting class through UCLA to strengthen my prose, played dozens of open mics, released 5 professionally recorded full-band rock singles, performed a 2-hour acoustic set at a gala in front of semi-famous people in LA and, most recently, joined an improv group which has heightened my confidence onstage regardless the art form and allowed me to sideline my anxiety and be more authentic in every conversation.

Despite all this, it feels like I’ve never thrown the entirety of my heart into the creative space – only part of it, and only when time and motivation permitted.  

Only when it was convenient. 

Well, those days are behind me. 

Starting now I’m getting serious with the thing I love most – consider it an engagement of sorts. I’ll be scheduling mandatory creative time into every week, setting short-term and long-term goals, no more party drinking, and most important of all... 

I’m launching a creative account to hold myself accountable to this new engagement, to have a place to post whatever I feel without the worry of annoying folks, and to consistently push myself to learn and create new and challenging things. 

If something happens to go viral? Icing on the cake.

There is absolutely no pressure to follow me on this new journey, but if you would like to keep up-to-date with the many strange things this silly mind conjures or you simply want to help support, it would mean the @worldofkoryjames to me. 

On that note, I’m going with a very straightforward name for the new account: @KoryJamesCreative and it is live.
