No Man's Land - A Short Poem

No Man's Land

By: Kory James

The battlefield rings with gunshots and vitriol

As another white-flag waver falls through a pigeonhole.

A trench dug on the left, another on the right,

And a No Man's Land between them where debate goes up to die.

Raindrops hit the ground in cats and dogs, in false dichotomies,

Mixing with the dirt to make it easier for mudslinging.

The trenches send their strawmen and their sacred cows to fight,

While they hide inside their bubbles, pretending this is fine.

Is this...fine?
